Lulwa Al-Mulla: We Reject Restrictive Clause in Article 16

Lulwa Al-Mulla, President of the Women’s Cultural and Social Society, firmly rejected the government’s attempt to pass a paragraph within Article 16 of the draft law establishing the Supreme Elections Commission.

The controversial clause would require women candidates to adhere to unspecified rules and legal provisions related to dress and appearance.

Lulwa Al-Mulla emphasized that such a requirement is discriminatory and undermines the principles of equality, freedom, and constitutional rights enshrined in Kuwaiti law.
