On July 26, 2023, six Kuwaiti non-governmental organizations issued a joint statement calling for an end to the undermining of Kuwaiti women’s achievements. The statement emphasized the need to uphold the Kuwaiti Constitution and expressed concern that:
“It is unfair for Kuwaiti women to remain in a state of constant struggle to obtain the simplest gains, only to be forced to wage another struggle to preserve what they have already achieved.”
The signatories also demanded the abolition of the Negative Phenomena Committee, stating that its role contradicts the spirit of the Constitution and threatens the structure of Kuwait’s modern and civil society.
