In May 2021, the Women’s Cultural and Social Society joined the Women and Business Committee at the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD) upon invitation from the Secretary-General, reflecting the Society’s longstanding role as a trusted civic voice in advancing women’s empowerment and national development.
Through its participation, WCSS contributed to national dialogue aimed at strengthening women’s economic participation, expanding leadership opportunities, and improving the enabling environment for women across public and private sector institutions. The Committee served as a collaborative platform for policy discussion, institutional coordination, and strategic initiatives focused on addressing barriers affecting women’s participation in economic and public life.
The Society’s engagement was further strengthened through its contribution to policy dialogue informed by international best practices, including frameworks and benchmarking approaches associated with the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law Report, which examines legal and institutional barriers affecting women’s economic participation. This helped reinforce evidence-based discussion around women’s rights, economic inclusion, and institutional reform within Kuwait’s broader development agenda.
